Your Best You

By Editorial Staff

What's your best you? If you don't know the answer, you should start thinking about it. If you already think you know, keep motivating yourself to achieve that best you every day – while recognizing that the journey holds the real value.

After all, your best you is the you of today, working toward the better you of tomorrow, and so on.

One of the best ways to become your best you is to minimize stress. Everyday and chronic stress can compromise that best you you're trying so hard to become. Here are three ways to reduce stress when – or even before – it affects you:

1. Beat the Heat: This isn't weather / temperature advice, it's a reminder to cool down whenever your stress levels heat up. Take a few deep breaths, remove yourself from the stressful situation if possible, and think about how to avoid it in the future.

2. You Are What You Eat: Skipping breakfast? Eating late at night? Consuming a poor diet altogether? What you eat – or don't eat – impacts mood, sleep and a host of other variables that can keep stress levels low – or raise them to the rooftop.

3. Movement Is Life: And in the case of stress, it's one of the best ways to generate feel-good hormones that keep stress in check. Having a particularly stressful day – so much so that you feel like skipping the gym? Do just the opposite and feel how your stress levels subside once you're working up a sweat.

Don't let life control you with stress; control your life and keep working on your best you by taking control of stress.
